Prepare for Algebra

The transition from elementary style mathematics skills to algebraic style mathematics skills can be a very challenging one. During my time as a teacher and tutor, I have seen students making this transition struggle with the same set of skills. In addition, I see students needing a solid review of specific skills each year as they master algebra and higher levels of math. This class offers a perfect solution for students who are preparing for the transition to algebra, or who are struggling with the transition. The class meets for 60 minutes each week to learn and review different topics. Topics that are commonly discussed include computing decimal and fractions, ratios, order of operations, and solving for a variable. Students are welcome to bring lesson ideas to class based on their current learning or the teacher will choose skills to practice each week based on student need in the class. Come join us for a laid-back environment in which students can ask questions and get answers to those difficult math skills!
